Our Story

I am 4'11".

I spent my whole life telling people I am 5. Only until I accepted myself.

I have spent my whole life in fitting rooms that were not built for me. Folding hems. Returning clothes that fit my waist but swam everywhere else. Wearing "petite" sizes that were just regular sizes with a different tag.

The clothes were always made for someone else. A taller woman. A Western frame. A body that looked nothing like mine or most Indian women I know.

For decades, Indian fashion copied Western sizing templates and never looked back. And Indian women kept altering, folding, and apologising for their bodies ever since.

I got tired of apologising.

And then I had my son.

Postpartum, I wanted clothes that understood my body. Not adjusted for it. Not a compromise. Something made with my height, my proportions, and my recovery in mind.

Nothing existed. So I made it.

Gidori is named after the gidda — the Punjabi folk dance that celebrates women exactly as they are. Loud, joyful, unapologetic. That is the energy we bring to every stitch.

We make clothes for women 4'8" to 5'3". Not because this is a niche. Because this is the standard Indian woman's height — and it is time Indian fashion remembered that.

You were never the wrong size. The clothes were.
